A 2010 Mercury Milan was furnished for a week-long test drive, but this was no ordinary Milan. This was a Hybrid. We haven't been hearing about too many hybrid vehicles in the news lately, but they are still very popular due to their great gas mileage figures and low emissions.
The Mercury Milan Hybrid is the twin brother of the Ford Fusion Hybrid. There is some very minor differences, but only the parents of twins can usually tell the difference. In a few cases, there is something distinctive that stands out to let everyone know. Between the Mercury Milan and the Ford Fusion, it is the nameplate and some minor external styling. Well, maybe there are a few minor differences on the inside as well. Do you get my point on this? The Mercury Milan and the Ford Fusion are fraternal twins mechanically. I continue to like them both.
18 Volt Batteries
Our test drive model was a deep green color called Atlantis Green. The interior had leather seating and accents referred to as Medium Light Stone. It was a very attractive mid-sized sedan. The mid-size sedan category of vehicles is getting fairly crowded and all the manufacturers are trying to position themselves solidly in this area. Gas mileage figures are increasing and amenities are better than ever. The consumer is having more choices for a family sedan.
Our 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid was powered by a 2.5 liter engine and automatic transmission. The horsepower is more than sufficient for everyday driving, whether on the road or in town. The engine achieves 191 horsepower combined. It easily changed from battery mode to gasoline mode without any noticeable effect other than the sound of the engine. The spec sheet said the EPA rating was 41 mpg in the city and 36 mpg highway. For our test drive, Judy and I average about 41.8 overall because we kept watching the ECO gauge on the instrument panel.
Special features that were standard equipment included a Easy Fuel Capless Filler, fog lamps, ambient interior lighting, voice-activated Sync, reverse sensing system, and a perimeter anti-theft system. The base MSRP is ,500, but with a few extra features such as a moon-roof, rear view video camera, and a navigation system, the bottom sticker price came to ,735.
I like the Mercury Milan and the Ford Fusion Hybrids. They are roomy, comfortable, and attractive. Best of all, the fuel savings for these hybrid vehicles is terrific. Check out the new Mercury Milan Hybrid yourself at a Lincoln-Mercury dealership and see if this might be the right vehicle for your next family sedan.
